Children are placed in the day treatment program because they are in need of treatment for a mental health issue but they do not require a residential facility. This program allows the child to stay in their own family or foster family while receiving the treatment they need. Day treatment is provided Monday through Friday throughout the year except on major holidays. The treatment plan of each child determines the goals of treatment and the length of stay. Average stay in this program is four to six months. Many day treatment children stay in the educational center after their treatment is complete.
Day treatment offers mental health services during school hours. A therapist and behavioral specialist work together with school staff to provide a therapeutic environment in a self-contained classroom where children are challenged to grow socially, emotionally and academically.
