The I Believe in Me Ranch provides boys with psychosocial difficulties ages seven to 12, a safe, predictable and consistent environment in which to live while learning to choose more appropriate and responsible behaviors. While at IBIMR, they will acquire the skills necessary to transition back to their families or a less restrictive living environment. The Ranch provides a therapeutic milieu which promotes an atmosphere for growth and learning, and allows for a rebuilding of personal, family and social relationships.
Each home is designed for 7-12 year old boys having a mental health diagnosis and exhibiting significant behavior problems and the need for treatment. The treatment group home and the residential treatment center each has a capacity of eight boys.
Goals and Objectives Goals:
To provide a therapeutic milieu which promotes an atmosphere for learning and growth and allows children to rebuild personal, family and social relationships
To provide community-based services and clinical interventions which will encourage each child to develop and build their community support system
To provide services and clinical interventions which do not discriminate against race, color, sex, religion, national origin or disability.
To provide each child the psychosocial and behavior skills they will need to be successful when they complete their program or transition to a lower level of care
To provide appropriate and specialized educational services to clients.
Objectives:
To increase the self-esteem of each child
To improve the interpersonal and intrapersonal relationship skills of each child
To enable each child to attain emotional, physical and mental improvement and stability
To support each child in the rebuilding and strengthening of family relationships
To allow each child a chance to learn to nurture by caring for animals
To facilitate formal and informal learning experiences that will teach: coping skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills, stress management skills, social skills and anger control
To develop a sense of respect for others and a connectedness to the community.
Treatment includes: Comprehensive assessment, individualized treatment plans, individual, group family and recreation therapy, psychotropic medication (if needed and authorized by parent or guardian) administered and monitored by psychiatric nurses, 24-hour awake staff, psycho educational groups, equine therapy. Aftercare also provided.
